This farm is an ecosystem.
And when we bring it back into balance, everything will flow like water. Habitat and waterway protection will be necessary to restore the biodiversity that once existed here. Luckily, there's a lot of great programs and incentives that will help us with our restoration plans. Late-cut hay farming is one incentivized practice we'll be implementing this year, which will protect habitat for ground-nesting birds, and will encourage more biological activity in the soils. More biological activity will bring beneficial bugs, which will attract birds...and very quickly the rusty gears of the life cycle will start to turn again. Life is built on cycles and systems, and conventional farming practices often try to dominate those systems. We're looking to restore the natural checks & balances that were once in place, allowing us to farm in harmony with this ecosystem. Keep checking back here to follow along with us on our restoration journey.
